Ok so plans have to change. Today learnt that KLM had changed our flights - to arrive in KL 24 hours earlier than we'd booked. We'd already factored in a night stay at Sama Sama in a Premier as the flights to Australia have different PNR and we wanted to have a buffer. That was a night and most of the next day. Now we have an extra night and day. Costs at Sama have increased since we booked.

We've been to KL many times so no need to really explore. It's not like a Singapore city. Obviously there's the train. So, while I've extended Sama Sama currently it's cancellable. We arrive around 2pm, have the next two nights plus most of the next day until evening departure to Oz.

Suggestions? We really just want to chill out. We will have been on an exhausting cruise.

As possibly something that most may not experience in KL, maybe stay one or two nights in Putrajaya area (the government capital area that's closer to the airport as well) that has some great lakes and architecture and is a very different experience to downtown KL.

Catch the local train from KL Sentral to Port Klang and then the ferry across to Pulau Ketam. It is an easy trip and interesting to see how a real fishing village lives and operates. The ferry terminal is only a short walk from the train station - which is at the end of the line.

Check out the new second tallest building in the world:

I’m in KL at the moment.

It’s an impressive looking building.

Far taller than anything else in KL.

But not fully completed yet. The exterior, including the spire, looks to be completed. I haven’t been close up. Perhaps some floors are already open.

Head to the Banyan Tree in town. Great rooms and staff. Connected directly to Pavilion shopping mall by covered sky bridge so can just relax by the pool and head over for a bit of last minute shopping. Best Skybar in KL with amazing views of the city

Here’s a very bad Live Photo of Merdeka 118, snapped from a car on the way to KLIA:

It really does tower over everything. It’s a distant photo - it’s actually quite a black colour when closer.
