Although not in the same class as some of these, our very own Wynyard airport in Tasmania has an interesting feature, check runway 23, Google Earth; follow the gentle S curve back form near the terminal building to the east, that's the railway line which crosses the runway.

Also this Ansett plane hit a freight train at Kingsford Smith.
Train Meets PLane

Bit dissapointed really, I thought it was the new series of Tiger's AIRWAYS program

I caught it, was a really interesting show.

I've flown into Lukla back in 2004, was the only flight I've ever actively prayed on, which coming from someone who loves turbulence is saying something.

I'm sort of glad I didn't see this before as I knew it was dangerous but didn't realise quite how dangerous is was, I think next time i'll charter a helicopter lol

I agree Sam, riding the fence looks awesome, definitely 747!:mrgreen:

I watched it on you tube.... it is only about 13 mins

Having just returned from Hong Kong and done the cable car trip to Buddha statue on Lantau island - the best view of the airport is from the cabin either going up or down - fantastic!
much better than from the control tower I imagine as you are much higher in the air.

took lots of pictures of aircraft taking off and landing

just my 2 cents

I could not find it on Plus 7 so that's why i went to you tube...

Oh. Sounds about right. I do find Plus7 has more availability of shows if I log in. But only for the number of episodes, they expire later if logged in.

But after I went up (in fairly windy weather), I swore I would never go on it again. They were close to putting the "Closed - too much wind" signs up and closing.

Agree there are great views back to the airport.

Gizo airport in the Solomon Islands is fun landing on the grass strip on the tiny island which is totally taken up by the runway. Also bikini Atoll. And Wuvulu Island in PNG. PNG has got a lot of scary ones especially in the mountains
