I just finished The Jackal. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next season.

Is this about the Real Jackal? If so. We have one of those 'Ned Kelly' connections. My English/Sth African cousin was flatmates with his girlfriend. Cousin was an interpreter in Europe. Met him frequently. Questioned relentlessly in Court. Mentioned in a few books. No charges.

According to many reference books ….the terrorist Carlos the Jackal (real name Ilich Sanchez and alive in a prison in Paris) was given the moniker The Jackal by the Guardian when arrested in an apartment in which Forsyth’s novel was found ( no evidence it was his).

But Carlos was the name given to him (due to his being Venezuelan) by his recruiting officer to the cause.

So ‘Carlos the Jackal’ is in many ways an early example of a ‘social media’ conflation

But as they say in ‘The Man who Shot Liberty Vallance’ - when the legend becomes fact print the legend!!!
