Not only is MEL a victory for TK, even Melbourne Victory is a winner:

Sounds like they will be flying to SYD 4x weekly by the end of the year too but have no intention for other ports at this stage

What wrong reasons? As opposed to EK being associated with Collingwood?

I'd almost suggest the reverse is true, TK and the Turkish government are not exactly the most virtuous.

I can’t recall Collingwood being forced to play games behind closed doors with no crowd and threatened to be kicked out of the comp

The issues are much more complicated than that, I'm no defender of violent thugs but I've experienced worse at Aussie rule games than Football. But anyway, in this case, it's a good sponsorship for TK, in my opinion.

Is there a way to find out which days TK are operating out of Sydney? Not seeing what days anywhere and noting it is only four(?) times a week to commence with. I was hoping to see if there were some competitive fares especially via KUL in Dec/Jan.

Just managed to find something on the TK website for the first day on 5 Dec. Looks like 20:40 departure. Says this though (as below). Meaning no stopovers?

2h -
Stopovers (No connecting flight) for
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur International Airport

Not terribly competitive at $6k+ for J.

I'm sure once the initial announcement dust settles and the flights are loaded we'll have the exact days.

I actually quite like that there's an alternative for KL too besides MH and AK from SYD.

As for pricing we'll see how it fares once they actually get going.

TK is going to be a huge step change for the Aus-Europe market, I am looking forward to what they plan to offer in the decades ahead.

Let’s hope the market backs them, but I have no doubt the IST directs will be successful.

Two hour Transit outbound through KUL - is the airport even functioning at that time of night? Haven't been to KUL since Covid.

TK (and more broader Star Alliance) desperately need a partner in Australia!
