TT [Tiger] another extra fee.

I know this looks bad for Tiger but honestly how else can they pay their fuel bill? A taxi these days across three suburb costs $60 and yet people expect to be able to take a one hour flight for less. Fare prices can only go so low before the plane can't get off the ground, by the time you add in all the extra's all you are looking at is the real cost of flying. It is a reasonable expectation that a flight would cost more than a bus or train on the same route.

The deception comes in with the airline advertising a $38 fare (that excludes everything bar the seat) when they are not actually able to fly you for that little and still cover their costs. A more accurate advertisment would be a $99 fare because that's what it will really costs once all the incidentals are paid for.

Indeed people get lured by the cheap fares, and then with all the additional charges suddenly the "cheap" fares aren't so cheap compare to the likes of JQ,DJ or even QF.
Can't help but wonder how longer people will get sucked in by the advertised fare before waking up to it.

Well I think

I'm pretty damn annoyed that the iPhone app has somehow deleted all but the first 3 words of my post after I spent 10 minutes typing it out.

You can get the advertised fare, I do quite often! Am I getting sucked in, what do I need to wake up to?

Why? What incidentals? If you can get away with out having a drink for 1-2hrs, have only hand luggage and have a mastercard debit card, that's all you pay. Although I think $44 is more appropriate as most people need to pay the $6 convenience fee.

As for the golfers, there's always DJ, JQ & QF, and it's pretty clear on the website that there is a $60 charge for sporting equipment, in fact that's an option in the booking process to pay for - people should factor this in when selecting an airline.

However the fee does seem OTT, compared to TR:
Now, you can choose to bring along your golf clubs, dive bag, or any other item of oversized sport equipment for only S$30 (for international flights from Singapore) and A$60 (for Australia domestic flights) per flight sector and make the luggage payment when you book online!

Indeed, if you don't have any of the additional services offered by Tiger. However would suggest that you are in the minority of travellers on TT from reports I have read.

It's not even that, people just need to realise that there is nothing free in this world. If you want the full service TT can offer it to you at the full service price...

Also thanks to the new laws price inclusive laws, it's illegal for an airline to offer a flight eg SYD-MEL at $9 unless it was actually possible for someone to actually fly from SYD Airport to MEL Airport for $9, also if credit cards are the only method available to purchase those airfares then credit card fee's must be included in the headline price.

the "golfer" was on drive radio the other night and she as well as ALL the other calls gave TT some advertising they really did not want......buit is becoming what appears to be the norm.......
they booked the clubs in MEL and all was ok..it was when the where checking in at Brisbane that the Aero "don't" Care check in people jumped onto them and suggested that wrong amount was paid.....mmmmmm Melbourne to Brisbane ok but coming back a problem...... this IS the problem....... Aero "don't Care and for all you novices, who are Aero Care you ask - They are NOT TT employees but contracted Ground Crew and contract they do! beautifully for TT so much so if I recall the Airways show - all fights where with check in - ground crew becasue they had NFI....... !!
TT cabin/flight crew are exceptional particulalry good at calming passengers down who have just had a "friendly" at check in!!

funny from other posts........ everyone loves them UNTIL somehting goes pear shaped then they all moan........ there is no excuse for poor customer servcie be it a $30 fare or a $ 300 fare but take note - be it contracted or not - ground crew represent the image of the company and sadly, it is not good - add OTP and that compounds it even more but with more planes that equates to more money and maybe the new GM will see this and what is not being delivered at the counter -
