Not certain whether it is targeted or not but I just received this email - a pity I booked flights yesterday afternoon but I have more to book so this might come in handy:

For a limited time, earn Triple Velocity Points on flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia*.
Simply register and book between 12.01am AEST 3 December 2014 until 11.59pm AEST 7 December 2014 for travel between 8 January 2015 and 30 September 2015.

no email yet. but had a look at terms and seems to be double points for economy, triple for premium/business.

To be eligible for the bonus Points promotion (double Points for Economy, triple Points for Premium Economy and Business)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Hi There

Just clarifying that this campaign is not targeted and it is TRIPLE points for economy as well as for premium /business. Terms on the website are being updated now.

Spread the word!

This is great.

Does anybody remember the same offer about a month or two ago? This just reminded me, and I definitely haven't gotten my triple points from that promo despite registering....

devils advocate - my email says join Velocity for free (handy - I'm already gold), then register, then book - really? are there 2 emails?

So is it available to current members or just those who join/register/book between 3-7 Dec?

Good .....
If Velocity are true to form given their history of the past few years the 'just before Christmas' email for double SC's should also pop-up with in the next 2 weeks , usually some time around December 15 ~ 18.

Last year's was 'Just book a domestic or international Virgin Australia flight from now until December 31st 2013, with travel to take place between February 1st and June 30th 2014.'
It is always a good one for loading in any first half of the year, non-ciritical date trips in advance if possible. Good for anyone needing a few more credits to increase or retain status - Significant other normally benefits from getting companion gold gifted as an out come of this.

Just booked a business return to LAX. That is a shame.

Did you get it for a good price? I need to book a J return to LAX for travel in April. Cheapest I can find on VA is for $5446 incl. taxes with Jetabroad.

So that is the one to wait for then....

Is it worth the gamble to wait and see if VA do this again this year? I only have a few minor dom bookings but with international bookings it could be risky to gamble triple points for nothing if double SCs dont' come through. I'm hoping VA's strategy is to entice everyone with this offer then offer the double SCs closer to Christmas with an anticipated reduced uptake. I could do with double SC's a lot more than triple points.

If recent past history is a guide they usually announce the double SC offer around the Friday of the last full working week before Christmas ....this year that would be around Friday Dec 19 if they hold to that form ...... but nothing is certain with Velocity is it.
I think they bank on the low take up rate at that time of the year with a lot of people packed up and shut down for year / plus other calls being made on peoples funds at that time of the year.
That said last years offer was a cracker with a very wide date spread ...... I recall booking 5 or 6 non critical date trips for the first half of the year on the morning of new years eve. With a bit of regular travel and a transpac flight or two in J or PE and your sitting at Plat and can be heading to a gifted gold before you know it.

Here is last years full extract , -

For a limited time only, Velocity members can earn Double Status Credits when flying on eligible Virgin Australia flights between 1 February - 30 June 2014. To take advantage of this offer, members must book by 31 December 2013. This offer is valid for new bookings made between 18 December - 31 December 2013 inclusive, for travel on eligible Virgin Australia flights between 1 February - 30 June 2014 inclusive. Eligible flights include any flights operated by Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa with a Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa (VA) flight number, and flown in a fare class and itinerary that normally earns Status Credits

Eligible flights are flights for travel between 8 January - 30 September 2015 inclusive that are marketed and operated by Virgin Australia on which Velocity Points can be earned and booked in a fare class that normally accrues Points. Codeshare flights marketed or operated by partner airlines are excluded from this promotion (e.g. if you book a one-way flight from Sydney to New York City you will not accrue bonus Points on your Los Angeles - New York City flight, which is operated by Delta).

So if I read this correctly, if I book a VA coded flight but operated by SQ, I would not qualify for triple points?
