Triple Velocity points with Virgin Australia

Is it worth the gamble to wait and see if VA do this again this year?

Million dollar question. Past recent history is good, but with VA really means little as in their past recent history they've done lot's of things that haven't been repeated. The triple points would be nice, double SCs nicer. Bird in the hand, 2 in the bush scenario?

WP should get a 100% bonus on the base amount, so (5 per dollar base points) + (5 per dollar WP bonus) + (5x2=10 per dollar special bonus) = 20 per dollar

How is that triple points? If WPs normally get 10 pp$ then triple would be 30.

The T&Cs say: Bonus Points earned are in addition to any Points ordinarily earned and will be applied to base Points only. Any applicable tier bonus earned will not attract bonus Points as a result of this offer.

So it should end up as 20 points per dollar or 5c per point.

Damn - didn't spot you had to register so just booked two flights. Once I realised I immediately registered mine and partners velocity number. Am i gonna miss out?

I booked a flight late on the 3rd after registering, and called the call centre to upgrade, and the lady I spoke with told me that her notice of the triple points offer said it started on the 4th! I quoted the email and the webage, and she said she'd "put a note on my booking to check". I'll be keeping the email/screenshots to make sure that happens!

Looks like you were on the money swanning_it, VA appears to have forgotten to wrap the double SC present and place it under the tree in time for Christmas this year
J.B. starring as Ebenezer Scrooge in this years VA Christmas Pantomime perhaps ?

Or maybe they are still in the mail ?

Looks like you were on the money swanning_it,

I've been tuning in each day to check......just in case!

Probably a case of keeping everyone guessing. All those that held off the points bonus may well be wishing otherwise. I hedged my bets and booked some during the bonus point promo and some....well, they're still waiting, Santy doesn't come until tonight!

As have I to no avail :(
I'm still holding out hope too though...well I'm holding out hope until Dec 31 when the NPX code is still useable. I Might need to start researching a cost-effective SC run to reach WP before I say goodbye to 400SCs shortly as I want that HH Diamond.

I wonder why they are being so stingy? - even QF had their 50% bonus SC I believe.

They're probably not stingy......just so disorganised they forgot about it!

Or that Qantas is sending over excess status clients and no need for VA to increase status numbers?

How long does it take to register the bonus after flying? Fine print states 4 weeks but just wondering how that translates in real world

When they had the double points last year, the bonus points actually credited at the original time of the flight SC/Points posting to my Velocity acct.

Thanks mate, that's a worrying sign for me then. Is there a virgin red roo on here?

I didn't actually notice they had posted at the same time though. I waited 8 weeks after the flight... The TOS said within 4 weeks of flights happening, but I gave that little bit longer lol... I called up Velocity and They checked on it and told me they had posted at the same time... I calculated the points and sure enough I was blonde :p

Calling them might get a quicker response than PM here IMO.
