My QLD seniors card gets me discounts in the US.Even the Metro in NYC in the past.So if they advertise a seniors price definjitely show it.Though usually a drivers licence which has your DOB will do.

Usually use a combination of TripAdvisor and Agoda.

TripAdvisor is great because the traveller photos are quite useful in checking the quality of the room.

Quite like Agoda because of their room info tab (shows the size and features per room type) as well as their distancing tool which allows you to see the distances to nearby places (and airports) as the crow flies. Agoda also only allows reviews from actual bookings placed through the Agoda website which can be both a blessing and a curse?

It might sound a little over the top but I usually set up an Excel spreadsheet (or Google Docs) and list a few hotels I'm considering and just plug in their TripAdvisor hotel ranking as well as their Agoda/Expedia scores, plus any other pros/cons that are relevant to me (such as English speaking, close to airport, close to expo centre) and go from there. Also include prices so I can get an idea of whether the perks of a particular hotel are worth that much.

I love looking through the vast amount of information available and tips on TripAdvisor, especially the photos of rooms to get an idea of the quality, cleanliness and size. I did a quick trip to Europe (Milan, Paris, Amsterdam) in March last year and TA was a great source of information to work out best places to stay, things to do and how to get around in the short amount of time we spent in each place.

I'm currently planning an America trip later this year and have already started to research things to do and suitable hotels. Love the amount of honest information on there.

I think I missed out on the exclusive survey panel. Or maybe I'm on it because they do sent me surveys now and again..

Do enjoy reading TA though, it's how I found AFF. I do try to review hotels I stay in, glowing or not.. may as well add to the wealth of knowledge that's out there.
