The pricing seems a little high but that is paying for the convenience. The Turkmenistan part alone would likely cost about AUD2000 seeing as they’re not covering the visa and entry cost. So, maybe you could save $1000-1500 by booking everything yourself.

The main reason I wouldn’t do a tour like this is the inflexibility in what you see. You’re taken to what they want (what they can make the most commission on - or what’s easiest) you to see. However, if you had no strong reasons to visit and were happy to just get a brief taste of each country, then it’s probably okay.

If you wouldn’t otherwise visit for five Stans, then I reckon this is a good trip at a good price.

And since they’re apparently going to turn off the Daza gas crater, I jump at the chance to go now if I hadn’t already. Overnighting there will be great.

Some things not in there - actually quite a lot to see in Ashgabat but can’t have everything. We are able to wander Ashgabat completely by ourselves so maybe you can extend the day there? Haven’t read the fine print.

You’ll obviously check out the named Hotels to make sure they are OK for you.

This looks like a decent deal to be honest.

Just had a look at the itinerary and it looks very similar to the Intrepid Five Stans Express tour but in the opposite direction.

Intrepid is priced from $8,996 but the big difference is Trip-A-Deal includes return flights from Australia. Group size between 8 and 20 so not too crowded compared to some other destinations eg. a mate went to China with Trip-a-Deal and it was 40 plus people in their group.

And since they’re apparently going to turn off the Daza gas crater

They've been saying that for something like 20yrs. If they close it they will lose one of their biggest tourist draws so I am dubious it will happen any time soon.
