I have read every post on booking asa now but wonder if I stuffed up today. Rang qf, asked for masa @ classical award or something like has been spoken on here.
found flt out syd-narita qf, aa flt narita-Dfw business 27/10. Also saw J on qf8 coming back 11/25.
Asked for masa but informed can't do this on code share.
Lady rang up & got J seat released for 10/28 syd-Dfw, trip in classic award.
Now wondering if she got seat released for outgoing, was it possible for this return to be masa in j.
Sorry, I can't quite grasp all the lingo, to try & make sense, hoping for jasa, but got classic award, wondering if I stuffed up in booking.

Person was correct that you can only do Any Seat Award on Qantas metal

If you get yield management to release a seat, I believe this also has to be booked as a Classic.

yes, when trying to book mASAs, try to avoid saying "classic". I think "ASA in U or Uniform class" seems to work best when wanting a business-mASA aka JASA. But check availability, as you have done, and as pointed out it should be on QF metal....although I think I have heard of the odd exception. Good luck

If you could find out the magic words to convert the released Classic seat to a SC-earning JASA seat, please do share with us.

AFAIK, there is no proven case of this successful conversion.

You need to find an existing classic award seat (if available), call Qantas and request an any seat award using the maximum points. Call centre agents aren't familiar with most of the jargon on this board.

still finding some agents who aren't aware of what they can and can't do. called up earlier today to get a quote on a JASA BNE-MEL-ADL return next week. Saw classic award availability for 76,000 points and $150, so knew it could be done. First agent said she can't do Any Seat Awards anymore, i should use the website. i explained that i didn't want a classic award or a full paying seat using points+pay but she insisted that she could only help me if i "couldn't use the website", i.e vision impaired, handicapped, etc ?????

put the phone down and called right back, this time got a gentleman who knew exactly what i wanted and tried a few combos of routing but best he could get was 80,000 points + $500... bit too high for my liking so i told him i'll keep looking and call back.

You can get an Any Seat Award on any flight be it Codeshares or QF, but it should only credit on QF numbers.

Of course BNE-MEL-ADL will be priced as BNE-MEL and MEL-ADL for a mJASA.

Deen That's exactly what I got for the same route

Because its correct. Bne-mel 24k . Mel-adl 16k = 40k each way = 80k return. BNE-ADL is only allowed direct as a 24k each way booking.

I want to book tsv-syd, of course you change planes at Bne, is this the same as above example : tsv-Bne, Bne-syd, all as jasa, thank you.

Its not the same as there is no direct route tsv-syd so fare rules allow via bne. For bne-adl only direct flights are allowed. Going via anywhere else would reprice into 2 separate fares

You can get an Any Seat Award on any flight be it Codeshares or QF, but it should only credit on QF numbers.

So if I want to fly on EK from AKL to SYD on a QF flight number I should be able to book a JASA - is that correct?
