Tricks regarding waitlisted booking

Flights I am looking at from AU --> EU in May 2023 are waitlisted for the dates I am interested in. I am flexible up to a week and can fly any of the times but it's either 47.5k KF one-way in economy with a waitlist or paying 80k for the next economy level up that has no additional value to me.

I realise this may be very hard to answer but can anyone suggest my chances of getting one of these waitlisted flights?

How do these flights become available - someone else cancelling?

Can I pick multiple days and times so with 3 x times per day, I could select 21 x flights to be waitlisted for over a 7 day period?

Cannot answer other questions, but for the last one, of course you can. Waitlist for as many flights as you are comfortable booking, and hopefully one of them will be confirmed at some stage.

I assume then you don't need to pay with your points when you do so, or in this example, I'd need 21 x 47.5k!

In the pre Covid days waitlisted flights could be confirmed . I have multiple flights waitlisted for this month and not one has been confirmed .
