Just curious because as always I am having a sticky beak at various flights and costs and came across this
Pet seating. This was for a flight from Sydney to Frankfurt. Available seating was in both economy and business
Have to say at one stage husband and I considered having six months in Germany with our ruler aka the dog. However between the dog's health issues and the husband's, that idea has long gone
Has anyone flown with a pet in the passenger part of the plane?

The dog gets its own seat?

Well given I just had a quote on taking one from Sydney to New Zealand, which rolled out at $4K, how much would it cost to get the thing to Frankfurt?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

And the cost of quarantine in Australia. There was an article recently where there is quite a wait to book into the facility in Melbourne

I know you can take dogs onboard on some flights within EU and between the US and EU; so maybe when the aircraft is used on those routes a pet can be in those seats. Carrie Fisher used to fly J and F with her dog between LA and London often.

But irrespective of what the plane can accommodate doubt you'd be flying with your dog on board from SYD as domestically no airline allows pets in cabin (guide dogs only) and internationally we dont issue pet passports like they do in EU; coming back the dog would be in quarantine for months at great expense.

Was that having the dog in the cargo ?

Yes I believe so. And taking animals between Oz & NZ is comparatively cheap really. I've heard some absolute horror stories about the cost of bringing them back into Oz from the States. One colleague had a bill that was well in excess of $10K
