Travel to Europe or USA/Canada in December/January?

With tons of Krisflyer points available, I am looking to see if I can finally do a big trip now that Covid is becoming endemic. So looking at KF J J awards for a family of 4 during Xmas/New Year period (school holidays).

I have 2 kids, 6 and 9 years old. Whilst I prefer travelling to Europe (most likely Italy, Germany, Spain, France, UK etc, not decided yet), I guess (?) the weather could be too cold to travel during that time, especially with kids as they may not enjoy all the cultural sights, and may not appreciate watching Premier League matches (which I really wanted to do for my favourite club).

Or I can travel to USA and/or Canada where at LAX/SFO, MCO/MIA there are Disneyland/World etc for kids, and that part of the world is warmer, and we may even travel to NYC as well. The only thing is that I have lived at the USA for a few months 20 years back, so I would have seen a number of those cities already. Whereas I still have a lot of places in Europe we have never been to and really want to go.

So before I give up the idea of travelling to Europe in Dec/Jan, has anyone here done this with family during those months, and if so, is it worth doing with kids?

I have taken my family (kids 5 and 3 at the time) on a two-month North America roadtrip in November to January, including some extremely cold places (Chicago was positively frigid when we were there, and a few times en route the car thermometer read in the vicinity of -25F). They loved it, but we went to both Disney World and Disneyland (started in Miami and went through Orlando, then finished in Anaheim before flying home), my parents did a lot of the trip with us, and we did Christmas in the Rockies in Boulder with a bunch of my US-based friends and a couple of my siblings.

Fingers crossed the four of us (kids now 10 and 8) will be going through Europe in a couple of months, but obviously I won't be able to apply winter experience. My first visit to Europe was in winter and I loved it (no crowds!) but it is likely very different for kids.

We have booked flights to do both in Dec/Jan with NoName Jr coming along for the ride. 1.5wks in Europe including Santa’s village in Finland then 3wks in US & Canada for snow-based activities. Have no doubt the whole family will love it.
