Travel Insurance via Amex QU Cards, trip paid with points

Hi all - just had a question as I can't seem to find any definitive answers online and hoping to save myself a long wait on the phone.

I've got a trip coming up for myself and the family in June that we booked with Qantas points, but the taxes were paid via my Amex Qantas Ultimate card. The T&C's state that you have to have paid for the trip using the card to qualify for the complimentary insurance, but what I'm unsure on is if paying for the taxes alone satisfies this requirement given the actual travel is paid for via points.

Has anyone experienced something similar or know what the deal might be here?

I had the same question with the Explorer, where the bulk of the trip was on Krisflyer miles. I rang Chubb, and the answer was that as long as the outbound leg from Australia was paid on the Amex or with points from a miles account linked to the Amex, and there was a return flight ticket back to Australia, then the travel insurance activated.

Mine was slightly complicated because the wording of the policy is "to and from home" but we fly out of BNE and back into PER, but in practice they just want proof it's not an overseas move. They were really helpful though and quick to get through to, so I'd suggest you call and confirm for your specific card and trip.
