Do any of these devices actually convert voltage?

I am going to Japan next year and need a device which will convert their 110v to the AUS standard 240v.

Anybody got a suggestion please about which item is best to buy?

TIA

The short answer is no. They are plug adapters, not voltage converter

You will need a step up transformer, that weighs several kilo's or more depending on the load, and not to mention bulky.....

If your device is electronic and has an external transformer, check to see what voltage range it can accept as many accept quite a range, in particular chargers for mobile phones, laptops, other such electronic devices.

What won't work is Mrs Jasonja3's GHD hair thingie, blow dryer etc.

Your luck is in!! My wife tells me that the new range of GHD's come with a multi-voltage charger.

No more American holidays with endless nagging about how terrible her hair looks!:D
