Hi
Anyone have any suggestions or tips for transiting in Rome?

I arrive in from LHR (BA) and fly to SYD (EK) on a different carrier and ticket and any inside tips would be appreciated.

Would bags be transferred?
Would I need to clear immigration and check in like I was not in transit?

It depends if BA interline your bags through to EK.

I've never transited, but there are signs for international transfer, Being FCO it may or may not be possible, with no rhyme or reason.

Just remember that at FCO, expect the unexpected. A rather chaotic airport at the best of times.

I've been to FCO several times, and am going again in two weeks time (and a couple more times later this year).

Here's my take on things. Expect no interlining of baggage and to have to recheck. I fly EK into FCO and it's not really a drama as it's not a huge airport as international airports go. However it can get very busy, so give yourself plenty of time.

And if you don't speak Italian, give yourself a little more time.

Otherwise. all should be well.

BTW, why did you choose this routing?
