Hi,
Does QF accepted UM's say, transferring from Qantaslink to international in BNE? What about change of carrier in an overseas port?

I've no direct expeirence in this, but the QF UM page gives some insight into this.

I wouldn't see why they wouldn't handle a UM terminal transfer to a connecting flight if they are booked on a single ticket, but as there's no specific information, or answers in their FAQ's, a call to QF will be needed to clarify this.

On the second part of the question: in the USA this is a straight-up No. Other countries of departure/arrival may allow it - but again you'd need to confirm this specifically and ensure arrangments are made with the receiving airline.

Best way to answer all of this is to call the Reservations desk of each carrier to confirm policies/procedures in this situation (and hopefully post your findings back here).

Important information regarding travel to the United States:

Due to interline policy changes in the USA by many USA and other airlines, we are not able to accept bookings for unaccompanied minors when the itinerary includes a connection to or from another airline in the USA, including codeshare and oneworld partners. These airlines will not accept unaccompanied minors from Qantas or transfer unaccompanied minors to Qantas flights.

All unaccompanied minors travelling to or from the USA require:

  • a parent or guardian to drop them off at the Qantas departure port; and
  • a parent or guardian to pick them up at the Qantas arrival port.

Thank you for your insight. Am just throwing around ideas for a 2012 trip at the moment so will let you know what (if anything) transpires regarding UM's.

Thanks.
