Transferring points from QFF to KLM

I have a decent QFF points balance and if possible, I am hoping to transfer some points for a Dutch friend to use on KLM. Qantas and KLM have a partnership however it's not clear to me whether this extends to transferring points from QFF to KLMs points program.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh damn. Thanks. Maybe I'll have my friend create a QFF in the future and transfer the points to him so at least on a Qantas leg of a flight he will be better off.

You can't transfer Qantas points to KLM's Flying Blue program, but you can redeem Qantas Frequent Flyer points for yourself or an "eligible family member" to travel on KLM flights.

KLM award seats are shown on the Qantas website if available to book using Qantas points. Beware the high fuel surcharges.

A variation on @Mattg suggestion. Your friend could open a QFF and you can transfer points 1:1 for them to use. Also gives them access to all OW airlines including BA, IB and AY etc. There is a silly joining fee but there are hacks to avoid it.

There's no QFF joining fee for people who don't live in Australia or New Zealand. However, the same "family member" restrictions apply to transfers as they do for redemption bookings.

If QFF finds out, either of you or your friend's account can get locked.
What I would do, if I were you, and if you have WP/P1 status with QFF, and once our borders open, is that you and him or travel together, and you get to invite him or her into a QF international lounge, or you fly the same QFF flight as him/her, and get him/her preferential seating.
Transfers of points, is a grey area, and people have gotten their accounts locked, or "fingers burnt".
Claiming someone is your "cousin" might work, or might bring up some ref flag in QFF somewhere, and your account gets locked.
Best of luck, ideally, I would not do the transfer.

Mattg makes two very good points... one is the warning around eligible family members, but the other is the high fuel surcharges for KLM awards. In all the intra-europe cases I have looked at using them - pre-pandemic - the surcharges have been higher than buying the fare outright.

Any other OW airlines an option? KLM is not a great redemption.
