Hi all,

Relatively new to the Etihad Guest program. Planning a trip to Africa next year with my +1, and looking to upgrade from Y > J
Both myself and my +1 have AMEX MR accounts, we will both need to convert MR to etihad for the required points.

My question is...is there anyway you can transfer points between etihad accounts?
Im aware of the 'family membership'...if we had this set up prior to the AMEX transfer, would the points therefore automatically transfer to the family head?

I just think it will be far easier if all the required points are in one guest account rather then a spread across two accounts.
Any help or clarity on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

This is exactly what I did for my upcoming trip at the end of the year. Went through very smoothly!

Oh, and some advice. Before booking your fare and then hoping for an upgrade, talk to the call centre about upgrade availability on the flights that you were planning on doing this on. Once you availability confirmed, the EY rep should be able to book your ticket and then process the upgrade at the same time.

Thanks Shan...that's def very good advice!
Quick question re searching availability, if you see tickets in "guest seat", then upgrade is available / that's were upgrades inventory come from?

I'm not too sure giving you a confident yes or no there. I actually thought that that would show the award seat availability rather than the seats available for upgrades.
When I was looking for flights from SYD to AUH, guest seat availability was there between on their site, but when I called to confirm this, I was told that these were not available for upgrades, so I booked my trip from BNE instead. Their call centre staff were very helpful by the way, even if the new menus make it difficult to find a way through to a staff member.

Ah rightio, maybe I'm used to velocity too much. There upgrades come from the award seat availability so if you can see award availability you can upgrade.

But if you experienced different with Etihad then def need to ring and check before booking even if guest seat availability is there, to check if you can upgrade
