Earlier this year my wife transferred some of her FF points to me, and now we want to transfer more points so I can use them to upgrade both of us to Business class for our LAX/SYD A380 flights in August.

I am WP and my wife PS and if I read the forums correct, I have a better chance of getting an upgrade using points than my wife.

My question, if my wife transferred her points to my bro-in law, could he then transfer the points to me?

Any other ideas greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Cheers.

You can only do a family transfer once every 12 months. If your wife already transferred you points earlier this year, I think unfortunately she wouldn't be able to do another family transfer until 12 months has passed.

Thank you for your reply robbegong, you are right, it is only one transfer per person per year grrrrrrrr...

As a WP it might be worth a call to the Platinum line (during business hours) to ask if they can do anything for you. I would only try this if your wife would still be under the 100,000 limit for the year with the extra transfer. The rules don't seem to be set in stone if you have status, e.g. getting earlier flights on red e-deals. It may not happen but you have nothing to lose by asking.

I recently booked a YASA and then 28 hours later decided that I'd be better off just buying the flight. I rang to explain the situation and my points + cash were refunded. I was very surprised that it was done, and that was an excellent WP1 bonus. If I hadn't asked, I wouldn't have received.
