Hi there, hoping someone can help me out with a question. My partner and kids were booked on a Lufthansa flight SIN-BCN. This was cancelled while they were at the airport and they were transferred to a Singapore Airlines flight SIN-BCN. This works out better for us frequent flyer-wise as I am hoping to claim the miles via my Velocity account, whereas the original itinerary on Lufthansa meant that I couldn't have done so.

My question is if anyone has experience with claiming miles when you have been transferred to a whole different airline due to a cancellation? I assume Lufthansa got paid for that flight, so will Singapore/Velocity give me the miles, or am I somehow stuck claiming them with Lufthansa? Have tried to read through Velocity and Krisflyer's terms and conditions and nothing mentioned for this situation as far as I can see.

If the miles haven't gone anywhere else, you should be able to do a retroactive mileage claim directly with Velocity. Just follow the process outlined on the website for the retroactive claim.

I have successfully done this before with QFF, when bumped from a Cathay Pacific flight (sale fare, no points), to a Qantas flight (flexible economy).

Hi MEL_Traveller, thanks for the reply and the welcome!

Thanks azza_1992 - was keen to see if someone else had successfully done it.
