Hi All,

I am booked on QF153 along with my wife and 1 year old, to AKL on 22/2/17 which is scheduled to land at 15.05( I am travelling from PER overnight). I am looking at booking JQ237 to CHC the same day, which departs at 17.00.

Following are my queries,
1. How far is it from QF international landing to Jetstar terminal?
2. Is two hrs enough time to transfer ?
3. Would Qantas checkin my luggage all the way through from PER to CHC? I.e. QF and JQ flights on seperate bookings.

TIA

In Auckland you have 2 ways getting between Int and Dom terminals. You can walk - clearly marked route and it takes 10-15 mins. Or there is a free bus that takes about 5 mins but of course, there is waiting time too.

eta - provided you're not delayed coming in, 2 hours is plenty. I've done it in less many a time.

Luggage has to be cleared in Auckland. I would assume QF/ JQ is like NZ and has recheck after you clear immigration to drop it off and then head to domestic.

I don't believe JQ has this in AKL. As far as I'm aware you'd need to take your luggage with you to the domestic terminal and check-in again there.

Still, you should have enough time provided your QF flight arrives punctually.

The walk is quick and easy, but often it rains so be prepared for the bus. It's all very easy though and you'll have time

I'm a bit less bullish. AKL can be busy at that time and JQ are firm on check in times. I'd be inclined to give it a bit more time, especially with a littlie.

Good luck.

now you have got me worried!! I still haven't booked and the only reason I am looking at that flight is we are already travelling from PER and would have travelled 10 hrs to get to AKL and with a 1 year old didn't want to sit in an airport for long.

I realise that you've already booked the QF flights, but if you're travelling with a 1 y.o. it may be worth using QF's direct MEL-CHC flight.

Yes, agree. AKL is a work trip and the ticket were booked by work. I am looking at changing the booking and pay the difference. Thanks Matt.

Have a night in AKL.... It did a international transit and it was very busy but haven't done the international to domestic...

I have made the transfer many times by both bus and walking. Agree with bsb, it's quick and easy

I have mainly walked in the 80 or so times I have done it.

Agree that with JQ, 2 hours is insufficient. Either see about re-booking to CHC or overnighting at AKL or taking a later flight.
