I was on a train between Manchester and Newcastle last week which was cancelled before it reached Newcastle.

Has anyone been in similar circumstances, and if so is there any entitlement to compensation?

The fact that we were left to fend for ourselves without any support was very poor IMHO.

Charge back or is there a formal procedure, as per the EU air compensation?

Where did they "deliver" you to? What facility was there to make alternative arrangements (booking office, reasonable connections etc)? How much time did you lose?

We were left to fend for ourselves. No staff members at the station (Darlington).

It was by the good will of another operator that got us to Newcastle just over an hour late.

Did you incur financial loss (ie. did you have to pay for another ticket?). Or was the "goodwill" free carriage.

At the least you'll be chasing any costs. It might be harder to argue for compensation of the 1hr.....

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
