Just caught a commercial on Channel 7 showing the Toyota 4 Day Sale (14th to 17th of October from memory) offering 1 QFF point per dollar on the purchase of a new car (selected models).

If you were able to pay for that on a CC I imagine you'd clock up a fair few points.

In before, "what happens if you return it after the points have posted" type comments...

Simple, don't drive it more than 100km, and trade it in at another dealership. It still counts as a new car, and they don't have to place the "refund" into a credit card.
You may however get some strange looks.

Not to mention the fact that you will get about $4k less than you paid for it if it were a Yaris or Corplla. More expensive models would depreciate a lot more!

And the rest! If you traded it with a dealer, I think you would tear up 8-10k on a Corolla sized car (I think the Yaris sized would still be more than 4k...maybe 6-8k)....and 6-10k tear up wouldn't equate to the 16-24k QF points return, even if you put it on a credit card to double the points! A just registered "brand new" car traded and resold by a dealer is then a used car at point of sale....

I think there is also a Sydney prestige brand (it might be Trivetts) doing QF points for vehicle purchases, on BMW I think...that may be worthwhile if you are looking for a BMW!

I think Trivitts will offer points on any new car franchise they operate. It's really a case of negotiating.

Trivett are painful with the Qantas points. I've bought a car from them every few years for a while now and everytime when it comes to the points they try to "sell" them to me for an extra $500 or something. As soon as you mention that Qantas wouldn't be impressed with them breaching terms like that, they back off pretty quickly, but still seems cheap and nasty (especially when we're talking about Jag's not Kia's)
