Tourist visa for Indonesia

I'm travelling to Bali on JQ106, what is the best place to find information about the visa process?

From reading news articles they have suspended the free visa and visa upon arrival.
 
@FishFood... Depends, When are you traveling? I was checking the visa info last night, and even for Indo native like me i found it quite overwhelming. I couldn't find official information that's written in English though. Basically you will need to apply for 211A visa, have a local Indo sponsor ( i.e. friend, corporation or hotel where you will be staying ) and they have to apply on your behalf. Also showing that they (or you) have at least bank balance equivalent to USD1500.

The visa fee is only USD50 + Rp. 200K if you DIY but I saw agents had offered the service for AUD 400!

For those travelling to Indonesia on Australian passports, are you applying for a tourist visa in advance or completing the formalities on arrival?

Also, is a transit visa possible? I've seen conflicting information, including that a transit visa is available for up to seven days.

I'm heading there next weekend for the first time in ages. Decided to apply online (yesterday) rather than on arrival. Can only mean one less queue to stand in and not worry about any potential payment hassles. I can't really see any benefit to leaving it do on arrival.

I read somewhere that “transit” visas have been pulled. Were they otherwise free v tourist gouge visas?

We arrived this evening and did VOA. It only took a few minutes in the queue to pay and was pretty straightforward. Cost is AUD54 or IDR500K.
Also don't forget the Electronic Customs Declaration (which we did do online before we left - also pretty easy). There were quite a lot of people who hadn't done them, and had to fill out the form on the spot on their phones or the terminals provided.

Yes, it used to be free to enter Indonesia to transit - you needed to have proof of onward travel out of Indonesia within 48 hours of arriving (and needed to show it at immigration). This wasn't a visa as such, it was actually a visa exemption. This policy was suspended during the pandemic, and hasn't returned since.

Hopefully it returns soon. Especially with some amazing J fares ex-CGK!
