Very interesting.......the centre of gravity (or something like that) was fascinating. Thanks for posting.

Very interesting page as a whole, thanks for sharing. And as for busiest routes I've only done MEL-SYD (guess I should realise not every route I use is going to have so many frequent flights to hop onto) and JNB-CPT.

Always new Syd-Mel was up there.
Interesting HK-Taipei is the only international* route (depending on your view of Hong Kong and Taipei)

but surprised HVG-PVG/SHA or HKG-PEK don't figure.

Love the Longest Straight Line you can sail on Earth graph. Imagine you are lost in sea on a boat and have wind in 1 direction ....

Glad to have done three: SYD-MEL, HKG-TPE, and both PEK-SHA and PEK-PVG (I wonder if they aggregated the two Shanghai airports in this study?)

Interestingly if you just look at the busiest route in the world for just aircraft movements it's actually MEL-SYD that comes in at no 2.

This air travel thing is interesting but I cannot believe we are not talking about number 12 on that list. The rubber ducky map is fantastic! Someone has to make an animated film about that.

There was interesting book about that very thing which opened up a whole new way of looking at ocean currents for me - well worth having a look at (I had to speed read some of it though).

Also, there was a TV program about some slightly OCD types who are are yet another world of those who 'beachcomb' and blog about it. They were invaluable talking about the rubber duckies and the other bits of plastic that fell off that particular tanker and how far and numerous they ended up.

Interesting HK-Taipei is the only international* route (depending on your view of Hong Kong and Taipei)

The sheer volume of passengers on TPE-HKG is amazing, I do this one regularly, mostly 777/33x and even some 747s, most of the time quite full (some of the AC even have non-regional J/F). You've got CX and KA doing pretty much hourly flights between them, plus CI and BR plying the route as well. It was once referred to as 'golden' as it was so profitable I believe. I suppose it's gotta be called 'International' not least because you need a passport to do it!

Interesting link. Information overload.

I have managed 2 of the routes listed in SYD-MEL and HKG-TPE.
