Hundreds of babies, all flying to Canberra next month for a national homebirth rally, have been hurriedly bumped off flights after the airline’s computerised booking system failed to alert staff that too many infants were being put on each plane.

Qantas staff began contacting customers at the weekend, telling them they must stay overnight in Canberra, take indirect flights or cancel their journeys.

All I can say is, imagine being on a flight with 8 babies, let alone upwards of 20!

Given Virgin Blue also flies into CBR one wonders if they have the same issue and how they are handling it?

For Qantas I think there will be a rapid review of the computer program.

I shudder to think of how Tiger will handle it. Should make for some interesting television.

I agree, I can't think of much worse, although bad body odour would probably top the annoyance of 8 babies.

Would there be much difference between 8 babies crying or 20 babies crying? Either way it would be an uncomfortable flight.

Maybe the babies could be put in the hold for the comfort of other PAX?

:p

Mr!

;)

Definitely, babies are exponential - each additional baby makes it twice as bad :)

Now now munitalP. That is not a very nice statement regarding the custodians of humanity's continued existence....

This post makes me think of our June Qantas Y+ London/Syd where 1 passenger made assumption she would be given basinett FOC seat for her jnr. Ended up with her lying on floor in corner of front of Y+ with very young Jnr occupying seat next to totally unimpressed WP. Basinet in middle taken by another very young bub who had mum decide 2hrs out of syd that she may have swine flu

Hell will be like this.

Yes my friend, again you are 100% correct in assuming I am not very nice - but look on the bright side - we both enjoy beer, golf is a passion, and the number of babies in the hold for the comfort of other PAX would be a very small percentage of babies in the world - I am willing to take the risk!

 ;) :D

I am not sure what the point is here - the bassient seats are free for any passenger and I think are allocated on a youngest child first basis rather than status.
