Now, I know this is coming a bit late, but good ideas are always welcome, I know.

You seem to have overlooked the value of a good shed. A good BIG shed. Sheds are great for any number of things. Did you think about getting a shed like this one, which has just been put up just around the corner from me? Granted, the house would have had to shrink a bit, but think of the money you'd save! :p

We had two sheds at the old house, they became dumping grounds for stuff that didn't fit In the house.

That shed looks good me me, although it may be a little on the smaller side, I have to get out of surburia and get a decent sized block of land!

We have a battle axe block and I keep telling the boss I'm going to put a couple of conatiners down the driveway. :)

Ergh looks like we're being pushed back a week as the inspector found two tiny cosmetic issues.

We went out to the house this morning to fix the fence now that (most of) the dirty soil had been removed. There's still a fair bit of cough that we'll need to scrape out before we load up the topsoil.

Supervisor turned up just in time to help lift the fence panel, plus we got another tour of the house.

The two issues are tiny and a result of the other fixes. The ensuite sinks are 5mm out of alignment now that we have a new bench, and the replaced tile in the shower hasn't been caulked.

Supervisor is going to fix himself then get the inspector back in to sign off. But of course with cup day next week things get pushed back so hopefully next Friday is the day.

We've decided today that we'll get removalists in. I'm in no state to be carting furniture and all the people who've offered to help have conveniently gone quiet.

Removalists are expensive but really worth it. And you can just direct them to do all the work.

Today's update:
  • fixes have been done and signed off by the inspector
  • electrician etc expected next Wednesday and Thursday to complete installation of oven, rangehood and hot water service
  • house to be cleaned again Friday morning
  • handover tentatively scheduled for 1pm Friday :D

We had two sheds at the old house, they became dumping grounds for stuff that didn't fit In the house.
Instead of flimsy sheds we got 2 x 20ft shipping containers in one corner of property
In the last year, one got hit by lightning and a gum tree fell on the other. Not much happened to the containers. Slight dent from tree.

Just got the plot levelled by a bobcat, and concrete sleepers laid on 4 corners and the container slid on. Easy. Dont need Council DA.
