TomCat's new digs!

Fan..bl**dy..tastic, as they say! That would be great.:)

Just have to see how things go then work around some travel we booked as we figured there was no way it would be ready then:rolleyes:

At least the supervisor is happy for us to get fences installed before handover, so we just need to get grass in before we move the dogs.

That’s a good season to get lawns happening.

You must be so stoked. I can remember similar when we built our first home, gosh, over 40 years ago. Single storey only. What surprises me is that you look on the plans and think you know what it will look like but in reality it looks so much better.
Are you in the Facebook site for KMart? As we are redecorating I am completely addicted. They basically pimp Kmart items. Well, those are the posts I read. Of course there are a lot of pix of people wearing tight jeans who just shouldn’t .......

I do love Kmart. I have another voucher to spend that I won....

Something that can improve invaluable one or two or more years down the track....

Photos of every wall in each room BEFORE the plasterboard goes on - so you know exactly where the wires and any water pipes run.

That way it makes adding an additional power point, light, shelving much more painless in the future....

You'vbe made a good start with the latest photos....

I took as many as I could but no chance for any more as plaster goes on this week.

Totally agree. When I got my bathroom and toilet renovated recently I asked for noggins to be put in so that if (when) handrails are needed they can be installed without the need for wall strengthening. I have photos showing where the noggins are located with measurements from corner/floor etc. These photos were taken before the walls and tiles were installed also show where the pipes and wiring are located.

Starting to try to process what we need to do over the next few months so that we can be ready to landscape and move in asap.
Already got the details of both neighbours so we can organise fences. Left neighbour will likely be in before us, but RHS is still mud with no sign anything will happen any time soon. Fences can be done about a month before handover; I'm starting to assemble quotes.

Once we're looking more likely to move early, need to see if we can get the furniture early. Dining set should be fine as its a layby, couch maybe not so easy but we have one we can use in the mean time. Need to purchase towel rails and toilet roll holders, a clothes line and a letter box (Bunnings gift cards from our wedding are going to be very handy). Also an Ikea run for a few things like bedside tables, wall mirror etc. Will also need to order a dishwasher but that only needs a few days notice. Then we need to think about our plan of attack for landscaping the back so the dogs can move in asap.

I'm seriously debating as to whether to build again and your notes make me excited, scared and tired. Good luck

It can't be done by the electrician/plumber whilst the house is being built?

Same with the fridge with a cold water dispenser.

We still need to order/purchase one, no matter who installs it.
No plumbing to fridge, we dont have one that dispenses water and don't particularly need one.

I think you're better off installing post move. Theft is rife in construction sites. Besides, how hard can it be to plug in a dishwasher?
