I am currently booked on a F redemption (QF) from HND to AMS via DXB (23 hour transit) departing shortly after 12am on May 31 this year.
I am okay coming home as I have a SQ redemption from Europe back to Oz, but what do you think are the chances that I am going to be okay on this Emirates flight at this stage?
Is it time to book a contingency redemption (which I only have points for in economy) from Asia to Europe, such as PVG-HEL, my ultimate destination being the British Isles?
Thanks

PS. What are the chances of QR resuming a normal service by early May? I am considering doing a side trip via Doha around that time

No-one can answer those questions, as much as I'm sure many of us are worried about similar things. Most people would assume that by May things would be "less dynamic", but here is a war by lunatic fanatics against fanatics. It would all be unfounded speculation about how long various parties have reserves of armaments, how much the Gulf states become uninvolved, etc. Commercially, of course the airlines will want to resume as quickly as viable, but available seats will be fewer until people have finished relocating, returning, fleeing, etc, and airlines may reduce operations to reduce losses due to skyrocketing fuel costs and possible drop in traveller numbers, as has happened after other major military actions.

The wisest thing would be to seek routings that do not traverse the area at all. Remember that travel insurance covers you for almost nothing currently affected by these events.
