This was something we had not done before and had plenty of opportunities for photo stops, and informative narration from our tour guide. We were given a quick lesson and a short ride before we started, and away we went. We went along fisherman’s wharf, down to the marina district and back through the streets to Fisherman’s Wharf. Here are some more photos from our tour. We did not do an Alcatraz tour this time, having previously done both the day and night time tours.

We are now sittI got in the Air France Lounge at SFO. Check in with QF was a breeze and we have our preselected seats 3E and 3F on QF74. We selected these seats as they are the only J seats where both have direct aisle access and we can sit together. I am going to put some stats together for this trip, and create a youtube channel for the videos over the next few days.

Your photos of wildlife are ridiculously great! Did you mention what camera you have?

@Pushka I use an Olympus E620. Most of the wildlife photos have been with an Olympus 70-300mm lens with auto focus and auto stabilization. I have had the camera for a while and it is starting to play up a bit, and I am looking at upgrading. This camera has a unique lens attachment that is proprietary to Olympus and they do not make it any more. I really would like a few different lenses, but they are ridiculously expensive because of being discontinued.

I agree with @Pushka about your photos and was just about to ask the same question about your camera. Excellent photos and good TR. Many thanks

Back in Australia and after a few days back to work. Our flight back was amazing, we flew Qantas in J in the old first class cabin. There were 8 pax in this cabin and service was amazing. There is something nostalgic about a 747. Just after take off I got a card delivered by the he CSM with birthday greetings from the captain and crew. Customer service was great. We got about 9 hours sleep so arrived fresh into SYD. The domestic transfer was a long wait and finally into the business lounge for our flight to BNE. The service on the he domestic J was pretty ordinary, slow and no real emotion. We really got the feeling they were just there for the days work.

I have compiled some stats for our trip.

28 days
320,036 steps walked
213.9 kilometers walked
2195 kilometers driven

24312 Air miles flown
6 airlines including private flight to Katmai National Park
-Virgin Australia
-Air Canada
-Delta
-Alaska Air
-Qantas
- private flight with Sasquatch Adventures
7 sectors on Boeing 737
1 sector on Boeing 777
1 sector on Boeing 717
1 sector on Boeing 747
1 sector on Airbus A320
1 sector on Embraer E175
2 sectors on Cessna 172

I hope you all enjoyed the trip, we had an amazing time, and are busy planning the next adventure.

That’s the way we are flying over and back and into SFO. As a couple we picked the two solo seats downstairs. We’ve been upstairs and while it’s secluded I felt a bit cramped.

My (now ancient) Nikon and a few lenses are packed away and I have been travelling with a bridge camera, sometimes even with just my phone…
These pics are nice and sharp , bright and well composed.. well done.
Time to start reading DP again to see what's new….

@Pushka we chose row 3 downstairs in the middle. When we boarded the CSM told us we could select any of the other vacant seats if we wanted to and when I told her we wanted those seats because of 5e direct isle access she said she had never thought of that. My wife did have some concerns about the seats being “out in the open” but after the flight said she enjoyed the location and did not feel like the seats were an issue. There was no foot traffic, which helped.

Thoroughly enjoyed the report - thank you. And agree the wildlife and scenery photos are just superb. Especially loved the pics of the bears and the otters enjoying / sleeping on the water.

Ah, my kind of life!
