As part of the honeymoon, Mrs Mannej and and I have managed to pick up a fairly decent j points booking on QF68 coming back home. It's the first day that the new 4:45 arrival kicks in, so looking at ways to max the experience, as it's swmbo's first time in J, and my first time doing 68 in J.

For those who have done it whilst it was the 23:30 departure, what is the service meals wise like and do you get the pjs?

Lounge wise, I am a QC pleb, so apart from the 64kgs I can't do any F lounging, but what are my options lounge wise and what is the best one to hot up (having only done the QF j-lounge before in HKG).

Once again thanks in advance for your help:-)

I have limited lounge experience in HKG but TBH I've been a little underwhelmed (based on expectations set from reports here on AFF) by the CX Pier and Wing J lounges on my one visit to each. Mind you, the QF J lounge was probably worse on my only visit but that was pre-refurb so I don't know what it is like now.

Apart from priority checkin and lounge access (and extra baggage) I'm not sure there is much else to gain except enjoying the J experience. You could maybe ask for express immigration/customs cards but I have no idea whether they are available for this routing or at PER in general.

PS. Have a great trip!

It depends on what you want in a lounge.

If you are not after a shower then the Cabin in HKG can be quite OK. Sometimes I don't want a place too quiet and this one always has people in it moving around. I like to sit at the bar and order a drink and go back and get smoked salmon. They only put a small amount on the plate but I keep going back and getting more and they don't seem to mind.

I will have 3 transits in a day through HKG (a couple are short transits) in ~11 days and I will try and see how many times I can go back and ask for smoked salmon before I get sick of it. ;) Got to do something to break the boredom. :p

Second what JohnK said - The Cabin is easily my fave J lounge at HKG. No showers is the only real downside.

.....looking at ways to max the experience....

Mannej, each to their own, but I would recommend a large alcoholic beverage prior to boarding. The gentle mist of alcohol IMHO makes all travel nicer.

Much of the experience, is, again IMHO, directly related to attitude. If you think a J experience will be perfect, and thus get upset when everything is not peaches and cream, then this simply and unnecessarily detracts from the experience. If you lead with a happy and positive attitude, it has been my experience that not only do you enjoy the flight more, but also the cabin staff take pleasure in your outlook and will go the extra mile to make it special.

Just my thoughts...

P.S. Congrats on the honeymoon and wedding!!!
