Hi all

Last Monday, I outlaid 384,000 points and $1290 on 2 x one way F award flights from MEL - LHR. 12 hours later, I realised I'd booked the wrong month (a very silly mistake to make, I know) and rang up Qantas for a refund.

The rep I spoke to advised that it would take 72 hours for the points and the ccard fees to be refunded to me.

4 days later, neither points nor ccard fees had been refunded, so I rang up again to chase up. I was informed by the new rep, that it actually takes 6 WEEKS for ccard fees and points to be refunded.

Is anyone able to advise which advice is correct? I still haven't received my refund (it's been 1.5 weeks now), and am unable to re-book anything until my points re-appear as I don't have many more points (meaning I'm likely to miss a number of award flights as they are released). Had I know that it might take 6 weeks upfront, I would have been more inclined to change the booking with the rep over the phone...

I haven't had to cancel an award, but have made changes to an existing itinerary which resulted in points and $$ refund. The points refunded within a couple of hours and the $$ the next day. I'm not sure if this helps you or not?

About 2 weeks for me....points came back 2-3 days before the $$

On the couple of occasions I've needed a refund from QF in the past year or so the refund has been within 48 hours. And I've let QF know that it's outstanding given some businesses takes weeks to refund your money.

In my experience with this, QF is consistently inconsistent (as with everything).

I recently cancelled 2 award bookings simultaneously. One went through within 10 days and both points and taxes were refunded fairly simply. The other one took several phone calls, after the third of which the points were refunded (immediately by the phone operator) and I am still waiting for the taxes. I was told "10 business days" for the taxes to appear on the credit card. That's about another 5 or so business days to go. Grr.

Interesting that the phone operator was able to do this. When I asked as much on the second phone call, I was told it was impossible.

Not an award booking but cancellation and it's about four weeks for me now and it still shows as a voucher. When I call them they can see its a refund but just say it takes time.

See my first sentence :)

You could always try calling again. Ask 3 different QF phone operators the same question, you will usually get 3 different answers. That includes yes/no questions.
