Cheaper the other way, but.

Is it just me or do the flights appear to be red-eyes in both directions. Too many connections and not enough benefits really.

I have just looked at return flights BKK-SIN-DRW and they price out to 19,310THB and when converting at 28THB/A$ it works out to A$689. These flights arrive SIN-DRW just before midnight and depart DRW-SIN just after midnight.

So then looked at DRW-MEL return and if you can find the $79.99 flights then this would cost $159.98 departing DRW-MEL to arrive just after midnight and departing MEL-DRW to arrive just before midnight. Forget it if you then have to connect to anywhere in Australia.

So all up A$850 for BKK-MEL return with 2 stopovers in SIN and DRW! I wonder if TG or MH, full service carriers, can offer a BKK-MEL return for around A$1000-1200.

Honestly looking at flight times and connections for TR if you can find an airfare with TG, MH or even BA and QF for around $300-400 more than take this airfare. Airfares would need to be a much cheaper than the prices I have just researched for TR to get any of my business....

Totally agree with you John.

And don't forget, if you want to get pre-assigned seats (and in my experience with Tiger you should), it will cost you AUD 25 per flight, or at least AUD 100 on top of the MEL-SIN-MEL fares being quoted.

And then there is the "convenience fee", etc, etc...

Agree with you both John and Stryker! The fares would have to be a lot lower to entice me to overcome the inconvenience of the flight times, seat pitch, baggage charges etc etc.....
