hi to all, first time posting on this site :)

i have a gripe concerning tiger airways(domestic) about a refund.
tiger changed a domestic flight time that i had booked and this change was
not suitable to me.i contacted their melbourne number and was connected to a call centre overseas.
i asked for a refund and was told it would take 3-6 weeks to occur
this was on the 28-05-10.it is now 21-07-10 and 4 calls later(the latest today) still no refund has been forthcoming!
the call centre keep telling me that they have referred the matter to head office and i ask "where is this head office?" in melbourne they say!!
i'm at my wits end and i'n here looking for advice or help to see a end to this!
i make no apologies for my username as it is how i feel

Hi nomoretiger,

Welcome to AFF.

One can only hope that the process is near completion.

Please note that the 6 weeks to get money returned is fairly normal and that is how long it would take with most airlines.

thanks for the info bill :)

If it has been past the time which they agreed to refund it by and having trouble contacting them, you could initiate a dispute of the charge to the credit card company ( if you paid by credit card )

There is no justification for 3-6 weeks for an electronic ticket refund; QF managed to do one in 1 day this week for me

The dispute process is not quick and may take a while but does mean that you do not have to worry about trying to get contact again with tigger

I suspect we may read about this or in fact have already read about this in the press if you know what i mean:

Traveller's 'nightmare' battle with airline over refund | Adelaide Now

In regards to Mr Wass's case, Tiger Airways spokeswoman Vanessa Regan said it was “highly unusual” and the airline’s standard response time for refunds was between six and eight weeks.

“In this case there was a longer than normal response time due to unforeseen technical IT issues which have since been rectified,” Ms Regan said.""

called in to my local flight centre outlet to ask if they had any advice
regarding this matter and said to me that they will not recommend tiger
to their clients.
as they also have limited means of contact :!:

I hope its not indicative of your experience, I came across it earlier today and thought I would post it on the basis forwarned is forarmed. I dont understand how in this day and age any company can claim its OK to take 6 weeks for a refund.

A letter in todays SMH gives advice on how to get a refund from Tiger-Victorian consumer affairs will give you the number of a real person to ring-
After 11½ weeks, I have received a refund and $50 voucher from Tiger for my cancelled flight (Traveller, July 17). Consumer Affairs Victoria gave me the contact details of Tiger's customer operations manager.
I was able to call without being put on hold and the representative was polite and conciliatory. Unfortunately, I could not find these contact details anywhere on Tiger's website

Their HQ contact details are:

Phone: 03 9330 3188 | Fax: 03 9330 3288

Great to hear. So who will you fly now? I never know which airline refund "the fastest".

I think it will probably vary... I've only required a refund twice! As per Dave Nobles comment my QF refund was quick - 4 days, JQ - 2 weeks.

I am glad you got your refund eventually, hopefully you will find an alternative that does not require refunds.
