Hi all,
Firstly I would like to say thanks to all of you! I have benefited greatly from all the posts on this site.

I have a problem that I would like a more experienced opinion on and thought this would be the ideal place.

My problem is that I have booked a flight with Thai Airways MEL-BKK-PEK-HKG-BKK-MEL but can’t actually complete the first two sectors MEL-BKK-PEK as I have an exam which I forgot about in early November. My travel agent has suggested I push back those two sectors a few days and pay a rebooking fee or something along those lines. However that option would involve me missing some internal Chinese flights.

I have managed to book a flight on Qantas to SIN then Singapore air to PEK for points in business class and first class respectively (which i’m very excited about:D) which would allow me to get to PEK on time. My travel agent has advised that she would need to re-issue the remaining tickets as one way flights to avoid the booking being cancelled at significant cost.

Is there any options I should look at or just stump up the fees to re-issue the ticket any Idea’s would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to AFF, GBK06.

My travel agent has advised that she would need to re-issue the remaining tickets as one way flights to avoid the booking being cancelled at significant cost.

I believe your Travel Agent is correct in this case. You don't have much choice and its likely to be more expensive for the one-way flights than your original return fare.
