Hope someone can help.

I have a return ticket Pth - Syd- Pth however since booking it I will now be in Syd for work and only need to use the second leg (Pth - Syd).

If I simply don't use the Pth - Syd leg will my second leg still be available or do they show the whole return journey as a no show because I didn't front up for the first bit .

Any guidance/advice would be appreciated.

Contact the airline and tell them about your changed circumstances, and ask if the first leg of the flight can be put into credit for later use.

It may depend upon the type of fare you have purchased. DJ will just credit the cost (less a small fee) which you can use on any flight to/from any location in the future (12 months limit). Not sure what QF might offer.

It depends on the fare type purchased and the rules associated with that fare type. Contact the airline and ask about your choices.

It's not so much the money - fare was a cheapie a but rather I don't want to turn up at the airport to use the flight home and QF tell me that because I didn't use the forward portion they have cancelled the remainder of the ticket!

This might happen (I don't know) so you'd be safer to ask them in advance rather than just hoping.

It depends on the fare type and the terms and conditons associated with the fare. The only way to know for sure is to call the airline and ask. Given its a cheap fare, chances are high that missing the fist segment will cancel the entire ticket.

Thanks for all your advice/thoughts.

I phoned QF (twice) and got 2 answers.

1 - no worries just rock up and use the Ade - Pth leg
2- pay a fee and reverse ticket with unwanted leg becoming a "dummy dated booking"/credit .

It is only a nominal amount but for peace of mind went option 2.
