Hi Folks,

I'm in the midst of trying to organise Travel Insurance for myself and the Mrs.

I'm an Australian Citizen, however the Mrs is a British citizen and has emigrated to Australia on a defacto spouse visa. For the first two years in the country on this visa she is considered to be a temporary resident, it rolls over to a permanent resident after this period.

We will be traveling internationally at least twice in the next 12 months, so it makes sense to purchase an annual multi trip policy.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to which company will cover both of us on annual policies? I have called a few, including TID which is spoken of highly on this forum, and the Mrs is not able to be covered.

Thanks.

I know that different companies define resident differently.

QBE defines a resident as someone able to hold a medicare card, and Columbus Direct define it in terms of where you will be reptriated to in an emergency, so perhaps you could try those two if you have not alredy done so.

Thanks for those suggestions.

QBE looks to be quite comprehensive, but also pricey. Columbus is cheaper and has lower limits from things but people on the forums have had positive things to say about them in the past.

Currently, I'm actually wondering if I should just skip TI altogether. We're only going to be in countries where we are fully medically covered for emergencies by virtue of our British citizenships (and reciprocal agreements within the EU), so the only things I really would want to cover with insurance is property and delays. Airline delays probably covered to an extent by the airline and property not really worth so much... I've almost convinced myself.

Cheers.
