I've read a few articles following on from Etihad's decision to purchase Air Berlin's FF program and the suggestion that it is going to manage it somehow with it's own.

Etihad Airways acquires majority stake in airberlin topbonus frequent flyer program

Seems to me that there's an interesting potential outcome of the this that the joint program could interact in weird ways with both QF and VA. Potentially interesting consequences for Australians?

Would be fascinating to see Air Berlin become a VA partner as a result of this. I'd put it down as possible but not likely at this stage.
