Hello Ladies, Gentleman & People who put their seats back on one hour domestic flights...

Haha.. :D ....No seriously I hate you, but that is not the point.

This is just an idly wondering thread.

When you are WP (I was a W long before the P) and not P1 (Mostly because you have either a life or less money than the Sultan of Brunei... One of which is required for P1)
It tells me how many SC I need before my I am P1 (and probably divorced)
The thing I found interesting was the number you need on QF metal to get P1, I had never paid attention to this and seen how much of my travel actually had the Kangaroo on the tail to denote grumpy cabin staff and sticky carpets.

After getting bored enough to do the Maths, I can tell you that precisely 54% of my travel was on Qantas, which was more than I thought and probably due to a truck load of Domestic, trans-tasman and Codeshare flights.
As I have lamented before, Qantas seemed to have mastered the knack of not flying Internationally at a time that suits me hardly ever... Not that I blame them, I am a grumpy and sarcastic SOB. Pardon me for wishing to arrive into Asia at a time that allows me to do a full days work upon arrival, apparrently this self abuse is not to be enabled by our national flag carrier.

So what percentage of your SC were earned on Qantas?

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

Due to my location and travel patterns 95%

PUI?

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

Is there a requirement to have most flights on QF birds? In which case Adelaide and Perth people have buckleys chance.

Yep, 2700 of 3600 on QFF is required, which is practically all of them.

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

I have 1950 of which 1920 are QF SC.
The QF requirement for P1 is QF flight numbers not metal.

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

I'm a mere PS, so no QF SC requirement, but given the majority of my flying doesn't leave NSW/ACT, last year about 80% of my SCs were QF operated - everything except some JL flights when I went to Japan. (My biggest international trip last year was unfortunately in a non-earning bucket on CZ...) Things might change a bit this year and next year with more international flying.

(As a primarily domestic flyer I suppose it amuses me somewhat when people talk about urgently needing to get ~s to requal even the lower grades...)

I was (very sad face) P1 for three years. I live in Adelaide and enjoy doing my International travel via the First lounge in MEL or SYD. I averaged 4000+ SCs each year and about 95% of my travel was on Qantas metal and the vast majority in Y!

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

2,379 of 2649.... P1 was close, yet soooo far

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

I am QF SG, lots and lots of my travels are with QF/Jetconnect. 99.5% of my "requirements" are with QF flight number (QF metal) , have only had 1 revenue flight with LA, earning me 10 QF SC (LA flight number)! Have had 2 flights TT with EK metal but QF flight number.
I am also VA PS, 50% of my flights are VA flight numbers. Rest is (Air) NZ.

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

Probably 90% with 10% on jet*

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

Yip - QF / Jetstar flight numbers in eligible (for ~ earning) booking classes.

This year with journies booked and already travelled I should requalify WP with just over 1K SC on ~ flights.

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

100% of my flights/SC's are with Qantas.

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

Up until recently all my paid flights have been with QF.
Withe the SC earn lowered I won't retain SG so have now started booking some VA flights using discount codes.
I should point out that I do have access to the VA lounges.

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

How can you tell? I have 250SCs to go for 2nd loyalty bonus and 50SCs short of re-qualifying Platinum so I am going to guess ~65% of my QFF SCs are on Qantas metal.

Could be a lot less next year if I still want Platinum. Which I do.

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

Probably about half of my 2000 odd sc's each year are on QF metal, mostly domestic.
The other half well Yup, I'm quite partial to the lovely AAngels over the pacific.

...

750 on ~
1150 total

So 400 non ~

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

Of my 1400SCs last membership year

45% QF
52% JQ
3% other

this year is shaping to be similar

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

10% QF metal and SC
50% QF metal but OW SC
40% OW metal and SC
80% *A metal and SC

And the mathematics is correct.

Re: This thread doesn't matter... Honest, you don't need to check.. It's about SC Met

11 months into my FF year and the stats are showing:

7180 SC's on QF flight numbers (89%)
850 SC's on OW metal (11%)
8030 SC's in total

These percentage splits will probably stay the same with another 2 trips to Asia (QF and CX flight numbers, 1 * US East Coast (QF and AA flight numbers) and 1 * France trip (QF and BA flight numbers) between now and the end of my FF year (31st May).

OK - I'll bite. Can you explain? Knowing the TAM situation, I can sort of appreciate the possibilities of strange metal/alliance earn, and throwing in QF codeshares or partner earn, I could expect that it might work out - except....

As QF metal cannot be *A metal (talking metal here, and QF is not in *A) how can you have 80% *A metal as well as 50% QF metal?
