Think this is the best slot: dinner time in the VA lounge, any of them

For those of you who have been into the VAd lounge at say 5.30pm/6pm, on a weekend, is it still diy sandwich ingredients, ie, the staple bread, ham, tomato, etc, and the requisite 2 tubs of keep warm soup?
Or is there something a bit more?
Thanks.

SYD and BNE VA Lounge in the last month or so have had some kind of rice and curry offering in addition to the soup at dinner time. (EDIT: Sorry, this was a weekday)
Either a vegetarian fried rice with fried shallots & chilli sauce, or something similar to a chicken curry with rice from memory.

+Soup +DIY Sandwiches +nibblies (popcorn/chips/bar snacks etc)

On my many Sundays at MEL I don't recall seeing any special dinner items, but I have midweek.

That's interesting to know, as we didn't come across anything like that over the weekend. Unfortunately a 5.45pm flight means you miss out on the ground and in the air... and nothing available at 7pm at the other end either.

The 'weekend' part might not be strictly true, I think my flights were Thursday and Friday recently.
Apologies for any confusion

Most times sandwich items only.

Occasionally see the awful vegetarian fried rice. Nothing better to look forward to on board either.

Have a Sat flight at 7.30pm end of the month.
Waaaa... for $65 a pop, ... not fair.
Thanks again.
Will use this last $65 "last" one before I get PS next month.
Then a return C and D fare with VA and NZ across thr ditch will get me ongoing PS.
40 + 60 + 60 + 40 ADL SYD AKL MEL ADL.

Are you going for gold? seems that according to your current + prospective SCs will get you to 455 SC, a mere 45 SC away from gold. Will seem a lil tad too wasteful to not get gold since you're that close to it!

That vegetarian fried rice is horrible, agreed.

The curry is good though.

And once again, please bring back the Bircher muesli.

Some scrambled eggs in the morning would be good; sangas are not breakfast.

Curries tend to give me the runs, if you get my drift.
While it seems some people seem to take pleasure (during the flight), to get up, pretend to do a stretch of the legs, but really go to the loo, and then, that eau de toilet smell whafts out from the back, ... I don't know if that person has done the big or small, ... but I just can't do the big one.
I usually clear my tum by doing the **** drop at home, or the hotel, several times before a long flight, and avoid the curry, or anything with cream, sandwiches are ok, coffee, tea, cider, biscuits, ok, but curries just scare me.
I will pay the $65 one last time for the trip at the end of this month, and see whats on offer.
Good to see MEL VAd terminal in the evenings, from the Lounge.
Maybe eat less this time, but enjoy a cider and a something a bit heavier, a white or red wine maybe.
After this upcoming trip, its PS, ... pay $300 for the annual the Lounge entry for the next 12 months, or pay the $485 for the QF QP?
Conundrums!
Ok, thanks everyone.
Will re-report back after the 28 Jun on this topic.

Was in the Sydney lounge yesterday and there was a couple of staff members walking around offering nibbleys on trays (small curry puffs or something like that) at about 5:00pm which was quite pleasant for a change.
And they were very yummy, would be good to see that happen more often :)

On a side note ... I reckon a pizza bar would be a great addition for those dinner periods.

Ta.
This is Thu.
Mine's Sat late arvo next week.
Will use up my 1st complimentary entry.
One way QF (will use QP) in ADL abd then the way back from MEL will be VA.
First set of SC earn for next start cycle of retaining VS PS.
