Well done QF009

You've (literally) just landed and are off again - I'm green with envy as I'm still stuck in my Office

Well done QF009

Well, there's an interval of about a month as I came back 2 weeks before Christmas. Been too busy with moving house and the end of year festivities and so this TR is kinda delayed. A fair bit of procrastinating also of course...

A splendid TR (as usual) QF009. Thanks for posting it. I don't have time to read nearly as much of the TR forum (both here and FT) as I would like, but thoroughly enoyed this report. Look forward to the next, and am determined the next worthwhile trip I make will be accompanied by a TR.

BTC - Book The Cook service. Essentially a pre-order service for your onboard meal from a separate menu. You used to be able to BTC as a back up in case the onboard meals aren't to your liking, but now they evidently don't cater your share of the onboard menu if you'd BTC'd. You'd also no longer get seconds of caviar as exactly 1 jar per pax would be uploaded these days. FCL is about luxury of choice, sadly the bean counters don't see it that way.

Tight indeed. This must mean op-ups/bumps/waitlists miss out quite a bit on food service if it means there is no "spare" food on board.

There is usually spare food I think. Just not spare caviar, or additional onboard options for pax who have BTC'd (which must be done prior to the flight). I'm not exactly sure of the process but I think catering will only be uplifted once the loads are more or less confirmed.

The LSS on my SIN-LHR segment said that the caviar thing was a "discrepancy" but apparently there's been a policy change.

Thanks for a wonderful report! Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Please keep in mind that excessive alcohol consumption is harmful! ;)

Keith, what was inside the Ferragmo kit? Are these only given out in FCL?

SQ only has amenity kits in FCL and RCL. Pax in JCL get sockettes and eyeshades, and toothbrush and paste are available in the bathrooms.

The Ferragamo kits contain Ferragamo-labelled skincare products (creams, moisturisers etc) which are most likely made under license by some generic cosmetics company. Ferragamo isn't meant to be a skincare company anyway, unlike Payot Paris, Korner or Ultraceuticals. About the only nice thing in the SQ kit is the fragrance; in FCL it's Incanto whilst RCL pax get F by Salvatore Ferragamo.

Very nice trip report as usual.

What does LS, LSS, IFS and ISM mean? I am guessing it is a variation of FA and CSM....

They are the various ranks of FAs on SQ. I've posted this somewhere on AFF but can't find it now... but anyway:

(In increasing order of seniority)

FS = Flight Steward; FSS = Flight Stewardess (blue uniform)
LS = Leading Steward; LSS = Leading Stewardess (green)
CS = Chief Steward; CSS = Chief Stewardess (red)
IFS = Inflight Supervisor (brown kebaya for females, maroon tie for males) - QF CSM equivalent

The blues work in whY, overseen by a green, and C - where they're overseen by the reds. The greens work in both whY (as supervisor - this role is analogous to the Cabin Service Supervisor on QF and NZ), and F (along with the IFS). The reds only work in C.

The greens are also the ones who handle the duty free carts, and make the onboard announcements.

There'd be slight variations from time to time (for instance i had a blue in F which I never had before), and things might also be different for 2 class services.
