The WP shadow

I am still not sure if I had a shadow or just an empty seat, as other seats on the EF seat map showed as blocked.

You might have had a shadow, just that you can't see it as a shadow, usually. When I see an X next to me I assume that to be a shadow for the other person.

Whilst I could qualify for both classifications it's not me (I'm 4C) but I did think it very funny. Someone values their privacy.

I am just happy wih a vacant seat, regardless of the process.

Of course, with your QFF number in EF you can't normally tell if you have a shadow, as it shows as empty/available to someone with your status/ranking. You can only tell if the person on the other side of the shadow has a seat. Anyway long story short an empty seat may very well be a shadow.

28B. Now that's a proper shadow

Or those seats are held by the computer for people who haven't checked in yet.

I have 2 separate bookings for flight tomorrow. One for me and an award booking for Bronze.

I was in 6D and the best I could do for Bronze was 22D.

I missed T-80 hours and at about T-56 hours I moved to 5C and to my surprise I was able to move the Bronze to 6D which was pretty much all the Bronze could see.

This morning at T-36 hours I can see 5AB, 7ABC, 8ABC and lots of other seats available. When I go into booking for Bronze I can see 6E, 10F and some other seats around the cabin available. Confusing.

What's also interesting is that the booking for the Bronze was done using my QFF points with me as the travel arranger and appears in my bookings.

You can ring up and get non status pax allocated a seat next to or near you. Assuming you want them nearer you ;)

Yes I do know otherwise I would have moved to 4F if on my own.

I was more intrigued with the seating algorithm where it's only showing the Bronze a sprinkling of available seats.

I have always got non status travelling companions into row 4 when we are travelling together in steerage.

Just recently, for flights in June, I am getting a response from the QF premium desk, "computer says no". HUACA a few days later and the same response! Best they can do is row 6 (on a 737) for a WP!

Anyone else struck this problem?

Row 4 and 5 only open up for WP at T-24 (Corrected to T-80) they are only available to WP1 and CL prior to this time.

I have never had a problem in the past. SOP: make the booking online and then call for seat allocation.

It must all be part of QF's marvelous inconsistent consistency.

Row 4 is always a challenge for me. Do I want legroom or do I prefer to have my bag at my feet and the IFE running gate to gate?

Anyone know why sometimes row 4 still remains blocked (to a Gold member) well past the T-80 point? Is it because there is a large number of Plats and above on that particular flight?
