The Virgin Australia Newbie Questions Thread

I'm still getting used to travelling with Virgin internationally so I'd appreciate your help.

I know that multi-city reward bookings require a phone call. I will be ringing tomorrow to ask if it's possible for them to ticket MEL-DOH-CDG in J for me. (The seats are there, if you are flying ex SYD, PER, or ADL all of which go through MEL. None for me wanting to depart from MEL. There are also seats available if only flying MEL-DOH.) The first leg is VA (QR) and the second QR.

If they can't, I'm left with the option of
1) Shlepping over to ADL, stay then night, then take the flight to DOB via MEL
2) Book MEL-DOH and then DOH-CDG seperately.

I'm inclined to do the latter. I did this once before (the only time I've flown VA internationally, it was also VA + QR) and they checked me in for both flights on departure and checked my bags through. But I'm concerned if my first leg is late that they won't honour the second because they aren't the same ticket - is that the case?
Yeah, just call and see what they can offer over the phone.

Looks like married segments ex MEL… they’ll sell you the seat from anywhere *but* MEL :(

They might still be able to get MEL-DOH-CDG all on the one ticket… if they can’t do the immediate connection, ask about a later flight? (ie longer transit in DOH).

Yeah, just call and see what they can offer over the phone.
Is there a likely to be a HUACA situation such as there would be with QF's call centre staff (who are mostly not thoroughly trained)? Or can I be pretty confident with the answer if it's a no.

Thanks for the tip to ask for a later connection in DOH!

I’m not an expert on international with VA, but for domestic it was a case of HUACA for anything with the slightest bit of complexity.

Others on here have booked similar itineraries to yours so will know more. I’m pretty sure something similar to this was in a thread recently… but i can’t seem to find it!
