The Virgin Australia Newbie Questions Thread

If I have a Flex booking made directly with VA, and I change it online to a different date (but same route), I keep the PNR and the attached double status credits, right?

Yes I kept the same PNR and presumably the double points in my case

I've missed out on some Y reward seats 330 days out. Either they were released and snapped up straight away, or they haven't been released yet (assuming the former, as I managed to snag the outbound leg OK, just not the return leg)

Does anyone know if Virgin release more reward seats for Y international throughout the year?

It's for BNE -> NAN in July 2026

July 2026 includes the school holidays. If you're after a seat outside of school holiday times, your chances are pretty good. But I have seen VA block award seats for high demand routes during school holiday times.

How many seats are you after? Have you tried reducing the number of seats you're searching for to see if VA have released any seats at all? If (for example), you're looking for 4 seats, you may be able to find 1-2 award seats and pay for the rest.

Alternatively (and this is something I've had to do) you could look for SYD-NAN or MEL-NAN and see if there are any seats on those routes.

Yes it’s school holidays. I have tried looking for just one seat. There was one J reward but it went while I was booking it

This July school hols I managed 4 J seats MEL-NAN. 4 of us, I found 3, but took just 1, as others was planned to sit in row 3, then checked again right after I booked and was still 3 so grabbed them, I couldn't believe it.

Then got 2 in J for return trip to mel, still on school hol. Clearly this was some sorta error, can't get 4 in J in best of times.
I wouldn't count on any more opening up for you, but keep checking.

Like yourself I look to book the moment the window opens 330days, 10am.
Sorry your post was about Y seats, I did notice they not in abundance either, book what you can / suits to a degree & hope for a schedule change to then free change to day that suits. Good luck.
