Blue skies in Christchurch NZ this morning, although it might change later today. We're staying in the centre, just around the corner from New Regent Street where there are several great bars and places to eat.

We also found a local gin 4 Bars that was created by a former Cathay Pacific pilot Chris Giles who we had a chat to at the bar. Guess which one.

@Flyfrequently, I can't say I have heard of it, it does seem to be a strange time to be running it as the Shannon's Adelaide Rally is on this weekend.

450 entries in various different classes, competition, touring, etc. Adelaide Rally - tarmac rally event

I'm helping the crew of Monkhouse/Woolley in Jack's frighteningly quick Datsun 180 SSS. (Helping him with sponsorship)

From last year.

If you like Asian food, I can highly recommend Rangoon Ruby on Colombo Street, specialising in Burmese food, of course. In a word "fabulous", but as usual YMMV... :)

Dishes are designed to be shared.

frighteningly quick Datsun…… hard to see an electric toaster as a rally car.. one area reserved for ice methinks

They are about, Hayden Paddon in NZ has one that is unbelievably fast, this article is a few years old, but tells of it's build.

WRC cars a few years ago had to run electric between competitive stages, there were many issues and they reverted to fully petrol engines. As an aside the petrol used is not made from oil.

This latest trip we also provided meals for a day at the local school where my daughter went in 2022 when we were building house.

In Thailand the government provides meals each day for these public schools. Something as simple as chicken & rice or pork & rice etc.

We provided a meal for 200 students (there may have been around 20 away on the day) where we had pork & rice, boiled egg, vegetables and Thai style desert. This was cooked in bulk and served to the kids.

We also provided 22 boxed meals for teachers and aides.

I did some of the servings and the kids are well behaved and pleasant especially the 3-4 year olds. In Thailand kids go to school from about 3 years old. Similar to our pre-schools. Prep starts for 5-6 years olds.

We also found out that one of my daughters friends from Thai school is in an orphanage North of Chiang Mai. His step dad has been hitting him and this time he needed 7 stitches so they had to take action. His baby step-sister had to ge put into different orphanage. His step dad is in jail and his mother in drug rehabilitation. We have to do something for the orphanage next trip.
