I really liked Arcachon. Did you get a chance to see the fabulous Villas on the hill above the town?

Yes, I did, as we drove I down to the town. There is some lovely architecture, yet the town centre itself seems very modern. The life size whale tail art installation in the water is something very different. It turns about 45 degrees with the breeze, too. Evidently the artist returns every year to repaint it.

“Office” for the last two nights in France: Novotel CDG. It’s a bit tired and dated, unfortunately. The photos of an executive room online show a desk, but this room doesn’t have one. There are chips in the coffee table and an overall air of being old. Nevertheless, the bed is comfortable, the shower has good pressure and, most importantly, the air conditioning works very well. No noise from outside either. All the hotels are easily reached by the shuttle train to Terminal 3/Roissy.

Good you got to see some of them at least. The two different parts of the city seem like two completely different towns. The upper part being known as "the winter city" built for rich Parisians to get a break from a cold, glum Paris and the lower city "the summer city" for summer holidays for the bourgeoisie. I didn't realise the 'whale tail' turned!

Out final Tanzania hut. Out of the Serengeti today and overnight at Lake Manyara before the run to JRO for our flight back to NBO tomorrow afternoon to begin the next leg of our odyssey back in Kenya on Friday.
