The view or two from my "office"

How are the fire/smoke conditions there at the moment?

Fortunately the fires came under control a couple of days ago. There wasn’t even a hint of smoke in the air last night. I could not see any burnt areas from the train yesterday, either. The affected area I think was further south of the city itself. We could smell the smoke more at times during the cruise on the Rhone. Today we will be driving through wine areas, so there might be more evidence of recent burning..

Thanks. A lot of those fires south of the city were around Arcachon Bay which we visited, and took a cruise on, last year. The railway line we used to get there was being threatened by the fires at one stage.

I was going to ask the same question about the fires
