The view or two from my "office"

Basseterre (St Kitts), St Kitts and Nevis.

I chose the shore excursion on the sugar cane rail. It went mainly along the coast, with gorgeous views. As on every other island, they made the “best” rum! These two dancers entertained us along the way. Later on in the cruise we had a whole amateur troupe come aboard the ship to entertain us in the theatre. It was lovely watching the two smallest kids learning the ropes of performing.

Road Town, British Virgin Islands.

This “Caribbean” cruise was more interesting than the standard cruises out of Florida, notwithstanding the beautiful islands and scenery, With the variety of independent, Commonwealth and French islands, cars were driving on the left side of the road one day and on the right hand side the next. We had to take care crossing roads. 😆. Mostly Silver Ray was the only ship in port, although the Ritz-Carlton ship dropped anchor near us in Soufriere. In two of the bigger ports there was one ofThe Virgin ships, a huge Costa ship, and one of the Oceania ships. Made us appreciate the smaller ship and fewer guests so much more!

Which cruise are you on?

This first one on Silver Ray was 14-days from San Juan to Fort Lauderdale. The next leg was 14-days from Fort Lauderdale to Lisbon via Bermuda and Funchal. Except that there was a severe low pressure system and the captain decided to head pretty much straight north after two days in Bermuda before turning right towards Portugal well north of Funchal. We had a bonus stop to visit Porto instead, which was wonderful.

Because of the woeful WiFi on the ship, photos on this thread did not open, plus I could only rarely add photos to my own posts. I'm back home in Perth now. Fortunately, I booked classic reward flights through Qantas, so my home bound flights were on KLM, then MH from KUL. No flight worries for me.

So I booked a hotel through Qantas Hotels in Las Palmas on the Canary Islands. A month ago they cancelled, apparently the whole hotel being closed for some reason so they kindly rebooked me to this place.

Santa Catalina. A Royal Hideaway Hotel. The place has 3 restaurants. Two have Michelin something-or-others

Sniff. Should be adequate.
