The view or two from my "office"

......... well it actually is my office for next 3:53 - Seat 1A on G11 Beijing Sth to Nanjing Sth 08:00-11:53:

Absolutely beats me why anybody would want 1A in any prem cabin - plane or train - there are always far superior seats in every cabin IMHO - unless you are a recluse who loves staring at a wall for hours on end that is:

And:

But even worserer than it being 1A is that I am sitting facing the cough end of the train with back to direction of travel - on a train with 1,056 seats there are only 4 seats that do not 'swivel' to face direction of travel - and I paid highest price tix on this train ¥1,043.5 - jeez I hate traveling backwards!

My upgraded office for a very fast 3.5 hour ride to Sydney yesterday

Not worth a photo, but it is bucketing down here at Bangkok airport, hope they have fixed all the leaks. :)

Did you do this as a day trip from Tokyo (like Amaroo) or are you staying in the region. Looking to visit in December and decoding what to do.:)

Staying in a Ryokan at Yudanaka, which is nearby, tonight. I think it would be a long day as a one-day trip from Tokyo.

Yes, Amaroo said it was a long day but totally worth it. Just trying to nut out the itinerary. Not easy :) especially as we will be there over the high-demand pre New Year I think. Just trying to minimise travel in this period.
The photo is gorgeous though and it is definitely on our 'must do' list.

Doesn't really give you an idea of how heavy the rain was, but anyway:

They haven't fixed all the leaks, mind you it was torrential!

An hours delay and now Chiang Mai, 38 degees C and very dry.
